ADVENT LITURGY
By Bobbi Salkeld

It is the second week of the church’s New Year.
This Advent season we begin again: drawing near to Bethlehem, where God’s love comes to bring hope to the world’s distress. On this second Sunday of Advent we focus our hearts on God’s love which transforms hate and unravels conflict. We anticipate a world like the one described by the prophet Isaiah who cried out:

The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearly together;
and a little child will lead them.

God of constant love and arrival,
Your love draws near to us in our longing.
This Advent, help us to open wide our hearts to welcome your coming,
AMEN.

PRAYER
God of all hope and joy,
open our hearts in welcome,
that your Son Jesus Christ at his coming may find in us a dwelling prepared for him.
Amen.
