Almighty God, 
your Son has revealed the wonders and the greatness
of your love. 
Renew us with your heavenly grace, 
and in all our weakness sustain us
by your mighty power; 
through Jesus Christ
who is our Lord and our saviour.

Lord, grant us the strength to greet the coming year in peace.
Help us in everything to rely on your holy will.
Show your will to us every hour of every day this year.
Bless our dealings with all people.
Teach us to treat those who come to us throughout the year with peace of soul,
and with the firm conviction that it is your will that governs all things.
Guide our thoughts and feelings in everything we do and everything we say.
In unexpected events let us not forget that all have been sent by you.
Teach us to act wisely and firmly, without embittering or embarrassing others.  
Give us the physical strength to bear the labours of this day.
Direct our will.  
Teach us to pray: rather, yourself pray within us.
