Bible roadmap.
At Commons, we're completely fascinated with the complex and beautiful collection of texts we call the Bible, but (let's be honest) it can be difficult to navigate for beginners and long-time readers alike. So - here's a roadmap to help!
This course traces the narrative arc of the scriptures, considering how myth, history, poetry, and gospel all contribute to a sacred story. It will help you make a little more sense of these important ancient texts, and - we hope - offer some clarity for where you are in your journey.
Key Goals:
• Map the key plot points and characters of the biblical text.
• Re-story the texts of scriptures, emphasizing the way they form a cohesive, redemptive narrative.
What You’ll Learn:
• Reflect on the ways that stories are essential to human experience, and how this makes understanding the bible as story so important.
• Walk through the Hebrew bible and Christian scriptures as a five act play: Creation, Fall, Nation, Jesus, and the Church.
• Consider the ways that understanding the biblical narrative helps us navigate the themes, questions, and challenges of our own stories.

Early Christian communities spread quickly across the Roman Empire by telling and interpreting the story of Jesus — maybe we can learn something from them.
-
JESUS-CENTERED
At Commons, we're fascinated with the Bible. But we worship Jesus.
The scriptures lead us to the realization that Jesus is the only exact representation of the divine and that God has always looked like Jesus even when we didn’t see that clearly.
