God’s call to Abraham begins not with a destination, but with a departure. Before Abraham is shown the land ahead, he is asked to leave what is familiar—his country, his people, and his father’s household. This reminds us that every meaningful step forward in life and faith requires letting something go.

In a culture that encourages us to keep all options open, following God often means choosing one path over another and trusting what lies ahead. While every season of life is sacred and filled with holy work, there are moments when God invites us to move beyond comfort and familiarity. When that call comes, the first step is turning our attention from what has been toward what could be, trusting that God is already at work on the road ahead.
