Lesson 4: A message from Micah.
Passage: Micah 6:6-8 - The prophet Micah asks the question of what he should bring as an offering to please the Lord. He asks if he should bring burnt offerings, thousands of rams, or even his firstborn child. But he concludes that God does not desire any of those things. Rather, God calls people to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with the Lord. This passage reminds us that what truly matters to God is how we live and treat others, not religious rituals.
Big Idea: Act justly, love kindness, walk humbly.

Follow Up Discussion — Bible Story Leader
What did the prophet Micah say God wants us to do — give God gifts or do what’s right and kind?
What do you think it means to be kind to others? What’s something kind you’ve done before?
What do you think it means to be fair? What’s one way we could treat others fairly?
Prayer — Bible Story Leader
Dear God, thank you for the story we learned about Micah, and how he taught us that God doesn’t ask us for fancy gifts. But what really makes God happy is when we treat each other kindly and fairly. Please help us think of ways to be kind and fair to others each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Activity: Bible verse poster — Activity Leader
Kids can either draw and colour, or cut out shapes of their hand, heart, and foot to add to their poster. There will be word titles based on the Bible verse (act justly, love mercy, walk humbly) which the kids can match to the image and glue onto their poster.
If a child is not interested in the activity, allow them to move to free play.
Dismissal: Collect tags and make sure each child leaves with their caregiver.

Warm Up Activity: Noodle/pillow pass — Activity Leader
Have the kids lie down in a line (head to foot) and pass the pillow/noodle down the line using only their feet. If they drop it, the pillow/noodle goes back to the beginning of the line. Their goal is for the pillow/noodle to make it to the end of the line without dropping.
Preliminary Discussion — Bible Story Leader
Today we are continuing our series on the prophets. So far we’ve learned about Isaiah, Jonah, and Amos. Each of them had an important message to share with the people.
Isaiah taught us that we can say “yes” to God when God calls us to do something
Jonah taught us that God always gives us second chances
Amos taught us that God wants justice and goodness to flow through us like a river
Today we’re going to learn about one more prophet named Micah.

Follow Up Discussion — Bible Story Leader
What did Micah say is what makes God happy — when we give God great offerings, or when we treat each other with kindness and fairness?
What are some ways we can act justly (or fairly) with our friends and family and neighbors?
Micah also says to love kindness. What are some acts of kindness that you love doing for others?
What do you think it means to walk humbly? How does a humble person act?
Prayer — Bible Story Leader
Dear God, thank you for the story we learned about Micah, and how he teaches us that God cares more about how we treat others than what we can give to God. Please help us to be people who act fairly, love kindness, and walk humbly. In Jesus’ name, Amen."

Preliminary Discussion — Bible Story Leader
Today is the last day of our series on the prophets. So far we’ve learned about three different prophets — Isaiah, Jonah, and Amos.
Can anyone remember what important message each of them had to share with us?
Isaiah taught us that when God calls us, we can say ‘yes’; Jonah taught us that God always gives us second chances; and Amos taught us that God wants justice and goodness to flow through us like a river.
Today we’re going to be learning about one more prophet named Micah.

What were the three things that Micah says God asks from us? (act justly, love mercy, walk humbly)
Can you think of an example of how we can do each of these things in our everyday lives?
Prayer — Bible Story Leader
