COMMUNITY PRAYER
Written by Bobbi Salkeld

Community prayers are prayed to hold the places of pain and confusion in our lives and the world.
Please join your hearts with me as we pray.

Loving God,
Sometimes when we pray
We say words or breath worries
But we don’t know what to hope for
Or how you are at work in our lives, in our hearts, in our world.

And still, we are invited to trust in the mysterious rhythms of prayer -
Ancient and spontaneous,
Fresh and poetic,
Stripped down and intricate.

You welcome our longing, our growth, our struggle.
As we pray for ourselves and for others, will you remind our hearts of your nearness:

For those in places of conflict in the world,
For those who have replaced peace for violence and generosity with scarcity,
For those we would frame as enemies, as other, as lost,
We turn to the Creator, who looks at the heart.

For those who are unwell - brought down by sickness in their bodies, minds, relationships, For those who are stuck in conflict, unsure of the future, scared of the next step,
For those who are lonely, tired, and so sad,
We turn to Christ, who knows what is in our hearts.

For those who are facing massive challenges,
For those whose faith is only hanging by a thread,
For those who need encouragement, strength, and companionship,
We turn to the Spirit, who moves in our hearts.
AMEN.
