EUCHARIST INTRODUCTION
Written by Bobbi Salkeld
Let’s take a moment to consider the everyday elements before us.
With the bread we remember the body of Christ - one that was broken so that we can be made whole. With the grape we remember the blood of Christ - poured out to transform violence and alienation into forgiveness and grace. In the bread and the grape we see the death-to-life cycle of faith and life in tangible ways. The wheat was harvested for our nourishment; the grapes are crushed for our joy. These are the gifts of God for the people of God - the sacrament of communion is for all.

Hear the invitation:
Come to this table, not because you must but because you may,
Not because you are strong, but because you are weak.
Come, not because you have done the work to be here and you deserve these gifts,
But because you need mercy and help always.
Come, because you love God a little and would like to love God more.
Come, because God loves you and gives you life, always.
Come and meet the risen Jesus, for we are Christ’s body.

Let’s pray together:
Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open,
All desires known,
And from whom no secrets are hidden:
Renew the thoughts of our hearts by the care of your Holy Spirit,
That we may love you and genuinely love each other,
And stand before you with reverence and awe,
Through Christ our Saviour,

AMEN.
All are welcome at God’s table
