THE LORD'S PRAYER
Introduction by Bobbi Salkeld
In just a moment we will put our voices together to pray the Lord’s Prayer. This is the prayer Jesus teaches us to pray when we ask, “How do we pray?” You can find this prayer in Matthew chapter 6. Matthew 6 is also where we are told that God hears the prayers we pray in secret and God will respond. We are told that we do not need to babble on and on, because God knows what we need before we even ask. But still, Jesus tells us to use our mouths and our hearts to pray, and something profound will happen in our relationship with God.
And so, as Jesus taught us to pray, we are bold to pray together:

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
