EUCHARIST INVITATION
Written by Scott Wall

As part of our worship today, we gather around the table. The practice of the Eucharist is important to our community because it puts the person of Jesus, the work of Jesus, and the presence of Jesus at the centre of our gathering.

It is fitting that we gather around this practice today because, on this Thanksgiving weekend where some of us get together and consider life's bright moments, we too join around the table in thanksgiving. The word Eucharist, after all, roughly means 'thanksgiving'. By coming to the table, we offer our lives...in whatever state they are, to our gracious God. And at the table we receive bread and wine as sacraments of God's great goodness and generosity. Whether we come with joy today...or loneliness, or pain...we offer thanks for Christ's real and transforming presence here with us.

You are welcome at the Eucharist table; come forward to eat together.
