PENTECOST SUNDAY PRAYER
Written by Scott Wall

Spirit of God,
Present to us as the breath we take in.
As the breath we let out.
In this unconscious rhythm you fill us with divine presence —
You are the one who expands and sparks life in each moment.

Spirit of God,
Revealed to us in the stories that shape us.
The stories of scripture.
The stories of the land.
The stories of home and community.
You are the one who opens us up to new beginnings - new possibilities - new ways forward.

Spirit of God,
With us in the remarkable ordinariness of life.
In friendships and connections that comfort.
In laughter and in tears - in pleasure and in grief.
In the unseen and unheralded work we each do to persist, and grow, and heal.
You are the one that inspires the everyday forgiveness and compassion and justice the world needs.

On this Pentecost Sunday,
As you did for your friends of old,
Come and fill - come and transform - come and inspire.
And let us be open to receive all you bring.
Amen.
