COMMUNITY PRAYER
Written by Scott Wall

Today as we gather, there is so much that we share.
A love for all God’s world.
A storied tradition of action and advocacy.
A fragile hope that Christ will renew all things.

These things centre us, even as we acknowledge our varied human experiences.
And it’s from these experiences that I invite you to pray for our community this morning.
Holding space for challenge and celebration.
Using words to reflect our honest desire for change, for healing, and for wholeness.
For ourselves, and those who stand beside us — join me now.

Great Force of Love that holds and sustains each moment -
Today we pause — and take a posture of awareness.
Choosing to embrace the mystery of your presence -
The mystery of those who stand near us now -
The mystery of our own consciousness here.

Even as we pray for those in and around our community here at Commons facing challenge today.
In relationships of complexity and strain.
In bodies weakened by illness and fatigue.
In work marked by anxiety and financial stress.
In every place we are overwhelmed and unsure and afraid,
For those who need to trust, and those who need to act today, we ask —
May peace surround and guide.

We pray too for those in our community, and across the connections represented here, who long for change.
For all embracing summertime rhythms of rest.
For those seeking out allies and outlets of wholeness — new rhythms, new ideas, new healing.
For the person celebrating how things have shifted…for all those trying to find courage to persist and persevere —
For all who choose to trust, and all who choose to act today, we ask —
May peace surround and guide.

And give us eyes to see your tender work in each other.
Offering hands and hearts in solidarity, we pray.
Amen.
