PRAYER OF GRATITUDE
Written by Yelena Pakhomova

As part of our worship this morning,
I want to invite you into a prayer of gratitude.
With summer days quickly flying by, it is easy to start living in the future, with all the excitement and anxiety that often accompany those plans.
The spiritual practice of gratitude slows us down in our rush to the future.
It grounds us in the present.
It invites us to pay attention to the now and the sources of joy that are here today.

Let us pray.
Loving God,
Today we give you thanks for this day,
this fresh and unrepeatable moment in time
that you offer us as a gift to live into.
And we are grateful for the summer and its rhythms,
for its different kind of busyness and the rest it encourages us to take.
Would you ground us in the good of today so we may trust in the good of tomorrow.

Jesus, who always reminds us that we are lovable and capable of love,
today, we give you thanks for the people we have in our lives right now:
those we are given to love and to care for,
those guides and mentors who help us grow,
those who choose us in friendship,
professional pursuits, good and hard conversations.
May our hearts stay attuned to the grace of their presence.

Spirit, who is creatively at work in and around us,
today we are grateful for everything
we get to create and do with the time we have.
We give you thanks for the projects to work on,
things to build, children to raise, kindness to offer,
all the ways we can apply our mind, heart and body.
We ask you to establish the work of our hands
and help us keep pressing wholeheartedly
into the miracle, magic and grace of life.

Amen.
