THE LORD’S PRAYER
Written by Bobbi Salkeld

Something I love about the Lord’s Prayer is that you can pray it for yourself, and you can pray it for someone else.

Today, we’ll pray the traditional Lord’s Prayer together out loud, and then I’ll pray a variation of the Lord’s Prayer for you to listen to. In the pause between, decide to receive the prayer for yourself or extend it to someone else.

The Lord’s Prayer can hold your hurt and fear.
It reminds you of what is possible in the world, and how prayer carries you forward.

Let us pray together.

Our Father,
Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those
Who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The power and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.

[pause]

Our Good Creator,
Ground of being to sky above,
Sacred is your presence.

We ask for your collaboration to come,
Your love to be done,
On earth as it is in Divine friendship.

As we open our hands, place in them our daily sustenance.
As we open our hearts, make light the heaviness we carry.

May we see the best in each other, even when we’re hurt.
And may we not fall into traps we lay for ourselves and others.

Set us free as we are being set free.

For everything, now and always, is yours –
The strength and the beauty,
World without end,
Amen.
